In an effort to reduce the greenhouse gas emissions causing climate change, France will ban commercial flights on several short-haul domestic flight routes.

“I am proud that France is a pioneer in this area,” said France’s Transport Minister Clément Beaune. He described the new policy as a “major step forward.” French Deputy minister in charge of European Affairs Clement Beaune arrives at the Elysee Palace for the first cabinet meeting since French President Emmanuel Macron 's reelection, Monday, May 23, 2022 in Paris.
