NSW Minerals Council CEO Stephen Galilee says the coal price cap “probably won’t have a big impact” on the price of electricity that households are paying.

“We hope that the commercial impact on our producers is going to be minimal,” Mr Galilee told Sky News host Chris Kenny.

“Some credit should go towards the New South Wales government for … making sure that the interest of New South Wales taxpayers and jobs … are being protected.”

Coal price cap won’t have any impact on energy prices: CEO NSW Minerals CouncilNSW Minerals Council Stephen Galilee says the coal price cap won’t have any impact on energy prices as there won’t be “much royalty revenue” from lower-quality coal. “There is not much royalty revenue that is going to be forgone from this decision because it’s low-price coal because it’s lower quality coal for our older power stations,” Mr Galilee told Sky News Business Editor Ross Greenwood. “That supports the arguments we’ve been making all along, which is the coal price cap is not going to have any impact on energy prices.”
