Julia Chase will play a key role in shaping the future look and feel of San Diego as the city copes with the more severe wildfires, droughts, flooding and extreme heat that climate change is expected to bring.

The city’s climate action plan, which was significantly revised this year, focuses on reducing greenhouse gas emissions by getting people out of their cars and shifting the city toward cleaner sources of energy.A separate climate resilience plan adopted last year takes a different approach that focuses on adapting San Diego neighborhoods to the worst effects of climate change.
