Xcel Energy-Colorado has filed a request for a new electric rate increase, which follows a recently approved natural gas rate hike and a $182.2 million jump in revenue for electric service that took effect in April.

has filed a request for a new electric rate increase, which follows a recently approved natural gas rate hike and a $182.2 million jump in revenue for electric service that took effect in April.Xcel Energy signaled in October that it planned to propose another electric rate increase. The company said in a filing with the Colorado Public Utilities Commission that it “finds itself needing to seek an increase in base rate revenues in the fourth quarter of 2022.

The Colorado Office of the Utility Consumer Advocate will intervene in the case, said Cindy Schonhaut, director of the office. One issue the agency will review is that the increase is based on costs forecast for 2023 rather than on historic costs. “Our customers expect us to deliver affordable, reliable and increasingly clean energy every day,” said Robert Kenney, Xcel Energy-Colorado president. “These investments are important for the safety and security of the grid and will benefit our customers in the long run while ensuring the company and the state stay on track to meet our energy goals.”

Are people ready to cancel Xcel's contract within the state of Colorado, yet? Send them back to where they came from? Hand the contract over to someone else?

Still too much. Wish Xcel had never bought Public Service of Colorado.

Not to mention forcing those new smart meters into more customers. I got a notice saying they're replacing it and putting us in that smart program we didn't sign up for, OR, we can pay fees to opt out. They are trying to get more $$ one way or another.

Xcel’s c-suite executives rake in millions every year. Enough is enough.

They just raised their rates this year! Now they want to raise them again? Why, so CEO can buy another yacht?

We need to start treating xcel workers as last class citizens. Don’t server them at restaurants, ask them to leave your business, and use only gaslighting responses.
