abc.net.au/news/union-wants-more-input-into-national-energy-transition-authority/101722522The Australian Manufacturing Workers Union says plans to establish a federal authority to guide Australia's transition to renewable energy needs significant changes before it progresses to parliament.
A transition authority will be able to propose changes to mining and resources laws, and provide advice to all three levels of government about how to manage the transition. "Without workers being consulted in its development, the authority will not be capable of delivering what it needs to — the confidence of workers that it will deliver justice for them in this transition."
"Big mining and energy companies are already moving to protect their investments and profits, with little concern for the workers and communities impacted," he said.Energy giants AGL and Alinta Energy were broadly supportive of an authority, although both submitted it should be clearer in its functions and objectives.A senate committee is assessing the submissions and will release a report on the bill in March 2023.
Now that be a big big joke Albo and unions more power they can realy hold it over the states demands or we cut the power it be a big mistake
Off course they do , they want $$$$$, current average wages of $250k not high enough.
The unions would love to keep $200k coal mining jobs so renewable energy is bad news for CFMEU
There is no transition. 85% of our electricity comes from reliables.
Unions missing out on the gravy train. 43% down the gurgler once the CMFEU bullying tactics and rolling strikes hit the renewables projects.
Of course - it’s just a money making racket - industry & workers all in
Makes sense, unions are the workers. It’s good to get workers sitting at the table.
Of course they do, grifters.
This is going to be a disaster for our country and the politicians, industry and community leaders pushing this lunacy will never be held responsible. Take a close look at Europe!
You mean they want control . Membership to dictate and fund Labor..
Anyone with first hand industrial experience will know workers regularly save operations in spite of management. Workers are often poorly represented in operational decisions and should be consulted more frequently
With the paramilitary communist wing of the Labor Party in charge, what could possibly go wrong?
They smell a honey pot!
Well we are in a total ALP nation so would not think it would be that hard to send a few hundred billion to the unions!
