South Australian Premier Peter Malinauskas says “nuclear power does have a role to play” because it is a source of energy that has “virtually no carbon emissions”, but is not economically viable for South Australia.

“It should be a technology that’s on the table globally in our effort to decarbonise,” Mr Malinauskas told Sky News host Chris Kenny.

“But at the moment our energy and our capital as a state is being invested in the hydrogen opportunity that we believe in.”

Still there’s the pesky problem of dealing with spent fuel rods.

Not 'economically' viable.

Nuclear is Miles cheaper than going down Bowen's path of Renewables that will cost $ Trillions!

First thing is forget nuclear and listen to scientists that say CO2 does not cause warming.

Premier Malinauskas also said Nuclear was not economically viable, but you won’t put that in the headline or tweet comments, or even in the article. You have to actually watch the interview to hear that. How biased is that?

THIS self confessed CROTCH GRABBER is the person SKY NEWS Jack Houghton and SKY NEWS after dark MUTT'S have been backing! SKY NEWS LOVES BACKING LOSERS! Says a lot doesn't it.... What sort of people listen to this MURDOCH MUCK! Watch this video!!

The calculations of the generating capacity of a nuclear powered energy plant must be part of a mix of energy generation. The approach for a single or a brace of nuclear power plants to produce the bulk of electricity is the cause of high risk.

But the battery was economically viable?

PMalinauskasMP Eastern Australia has an integrated grid, new inter-connectors being built, & existing ones fixed. SA could export nuclear energy to the East Coast. As a globally significant producer of Uranium, let SA get a decent share of the value added to the energy cycle.

It would be economically viable if you hadn't over capitalised on renewables that can't live up to their promise. How much power SA importing from others states?

It’s not viable anywhere
