Many Ohio’s veterans come from rural communities, and now those communities are building and benefitting from Ohio’s clean energy economy, Samantha Sawmiller writes

in our communities delivering significant new tax revenue that empower our local schools and support other critical community services.

Many Ohio veterans have helped to protect and build utility and energy infrastructure in other countries. With Ohio currently importing 25% of our energy needs, it’s time we use our skills to service our own energy demands while investing directly into our communities and our people.

Samantha Sawmiller is the development director for Open Road Renewables and served in the United States Marine Corps as a Sergeant, including one tour of duty during Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2009
