I've met many children far more astute than most adults, w better instincts, being better judges of character, certainly more honorable and honest. And thoughtful, and considerate. It often seems adults' job is to bully our children into becoming sycophantic nincompoops like us.

Candies and cookies are a cheaper bribe...

Frankly, he has a point. He has also at least given a rationale for his view, unlike many of the tweets and replies. To be honest so there so many adults that I wouldn’t let near a polling booth with a pencil.....

Why not 😀 my five year old grandson has more sense than many adults 🧑

When academic elites weaponise equality so ending the age of reason

Sigh. I hope anyone entertaining this notion follows the thought: what about giving the vote only to those who pass a capacity eval? If they figure out why that's a bad idea, they might crusade for better universal public education and a free press.

This should put a stop to that idea

He is right. Why limit voting rigt? Babies too should be able to vote. And, giving our pets, starting with cats & dogs, the vote too will correct the historical inequality and will add more energy, voice and noise to our boring democracy. PS: Reductio ad Absurdum 🐮🌵🐧😀

Because they are easily duped

Children do vote. They'll vote for corbyn next time. 40 year old Harry Potter readers

Just goes to show Cambridge and Oxford students can be dumb as shit.

Literally don't see how this would be any worse/different than allowing adults who might completely lack any capacity vote (which we already do and which I also think is perfectly fine).

Why stop at age 6? Why does this fascist insist on disenfranchising toddlers?!

Brexit is reckless? Huh. Seems many bookish twats really need autocratic, centralized, unaccountable government. Now — why is that? Their job & pension, perhaps? So much so you’re prepared to recruit the kiddies?

Most voters vote no better than children would. Still though, what a stupid idea. Love how he's framed it as enfranchisement....

This is such a great example of why we DONT let ivory tower academics run things even though they are clever. Cleverness is nothing if you do not have any wisdom, and many/most academics are largely bereft of wisdom.

Cos of course if they've got the Right to votell then they've got the Right! To do other adult activities haven't they, think this is a slippery slope to normalising the Abnormal.

'ok, darling...remember you have to vote for.... of course I will get you ice cream later!

Can’t be any worse than letting people with no knowledge vote

of course children don't know any better and itll be easy for An evil government to pass laws of control for they are legion

Santa Claus for PM!

This is such a bad idea lol
