The price is variable, meaning it changes from month to month. If a homeowner doesn’t choose a natural gas supplier,For those in the Columbia Gas service area, the current SCO rate until Oct. 26 is $0.85180 per hundred cubic feet . For those in Dominion Energy, the SCO rate is $7.048 per thousand cubic feet .
But those who directly choose their supplier know that cheaper options are out there, as long as you know the rate type and any terms and conditions that come in tow. For instance, many plans are fixed rates that lock you into multi-month or multi-year plans, some of which have early termination fees. And while they may be a good option right now, they may not be 6 months later.
Here are the lowest rates published in October on PUCO’s Apples to Apples comparison website. They vary depending on whether you’re in the Dominion or Columbia territories and other factors.The SCO rate is $7.048 per MCF in October for those in the Dominion Energy service area. Five providers have lower rates in the service area.
