.VolvoCars EX90, the XC90's electric replacement, will debut November 9:

before it is phased out due to continuing demand for gas engines and hybrids. The current version is offered with multiple gasoline-engine options including a base setup with a 48-volt hybrid system and a plug-in-hybrid powertrain dubbed Recharge.

Details are slim on the new EX90 at this point, but Volvo is saying that it will have something called a "driver understanding system," which seems like a step beyond today's driver attention monitoring systems. We don't know exactly what this will entail, but Volvo says the car will be able to sense if the driver is "distracted, stressed, or drowsy" and then take action to help.
