BREAKING: The California Independent System Operator has issued an Energy Emergency Alert 1, in effect from 4 to 9 p.m. as California continued to bake under an unusually long heat wave that has produced record high temperatures.

"This is an extraordinary heat event we are experiencing, and the efforts by consumers to lean in and reduce their energy use after 4 p.m. are absolutely essential," said Elliot Mainzer, the California ISO's president and CEO.

Southern California has seen temperatures soar above 100 degrees every day since last Wednesday, with little relief in sight until at least Friday. Monday's high temperatures reached 101 in downtown Los Angeles, 105 in Pasadena, 109 in North Hollywood and Santa Clarita, and 110 in Van Nuys and Lancaster. The excessive heat warning has been extended until at least 8 p.m. Thursday for the mountains and the Santa Clarita, San Fernando, Antelope and San Gabriel valleys, along with the inland coastal area, including downtown Los Angeles.

"A prolonged period of very hot conditions with minimal coastal clouds is expected through much of this week as high pressure aloft remains anchored over the West," according to the National Weather Service."Triple- digit heat will be common for many valley and mountain locations with a very high risk of heat illness."

Define irony. Record breaking heat produced by a massive star in the sky creating an energy crises. Imagine only if there were a way to harness all that power! California has failed its citizens.

Lol

You get what you vote for. Own it.

Translation: California’s electrical grid can not sustain normal activity during an extended period of slightly hotter than usual temperatures for September… And that is before we transition to all electrical cars!

Gov: Newsom: 50 Shades of Gray Davis.

Get your own 'off-grid' solar-powered system to charge your EV & power your home. All that sun generates alot of power for charging & storage. If everyone does this, then there would be less reliance on the grid & lower or no energy bills.

Make sure you turn your ac off and don't charge the electric car they told you to buy.

If possible, please get this message out. Thanks. CaliforniaHeatWave

For heavens sake. We have plenty of sun 😎 here. It's cooking us alive. Why on Earth is there insufficient energy to run our air conditioning?

Of course they picked those hours. It's the hottest part of the day around that time - all of the heat that's been baking the streets begins to rise as the sun starts to set. People are turning their AC's on when they get home from work as well. Good luck conserving.. 🤣

How to drive an EV in California:

Hope all you Leftists enjoy living in the dark in the sweltering heat. Remember who you voted for, dummies! 🤡🌎

Newsom Urges Californians to Save Energy During Flex Alert, Warns Risk of Outages is Real'We’re heading into the worst part of this heat wave. And the risk for outages is real and it’s immediate,' Gov. Newsom urges Californians to save energy during Tuesday's Flex Alert. Worst governor ever. My ac is set to 78, all windows closed and staying hydrated. 👍 A real leader would provide for more electricity, not asking us to be unsafe by leaving our AC off. Yet here we are. FlexAlert
