Energy Energy Headlines News

The Climate Change Advisory Council has called for the roll-out of home energy upgrades to be accelerated, for regular servicing of boilers, heating controls and the simplification of the paperwork needed to get SEAI energy upgrade grants.

It has called for the roll-out of home energy upgrades such as attic insulation and draught proofing to be accelerated; for regular servicing of boilers; the installation of heating controls; and the simplification of the paperwork required to access SEAI energy upgrade grants.

However, the council is concerned that Ireland's greenhouse gas emissions are continuing to rise when they should be falling. On transport, it wants to see the reduction in public transport fares retained and extended, and Government-supported, low-cost-finance initiatives to be made available for the purchase of electric cars.

The review also targets Vehicle Registration Tax on petrol and diesel cars, which it says should be increased to discourage their sale.It is advising the Government to make it mandatory for solar panels to be installed on all new residential, commercial and public buildings with further planning exemptions to allow bigger solar installations.

Suck it up Irish, you allowed this

the climate change advisory Council are more harmful to the folks of ireland then fossil fuel, our electricity comes from gas power stations, and theres nothing clean about gas. biggest lies ever told.

Cutting the cost of solar panel installation would be great. If they incrase the grant the companies increase the installation fee :(

It would interesting to know how, Marie Donnelly, Chair of Climate Change Advisory Council, travelled to this interview. Perhaps her advise ' is just for little people' ?

This people tells stories everyday, we have to lower the sun from the orbit to heat the house because that's the only natural way to avoid emissions and pollution, even if that's possible they will still complain.

To what end RTE You are filth along with your paymasters. The people see you all for what you are, the pendulum will swing quick with the naive followers too. Absolute filth. CO2 Éire is 0.09% of global. Man made CO2 is 3% of 3% of 0.1% of the atmosphere you criminal fools

Why is a climate board advising on our energy needs? WTF like. Green lunacy again, they caused this, cant wait till i see the back of them.

I don't know where in God's name did they find this Lady Miss Donnelly. She's totally off her rocker. The Country is collapsing. The Government is a shambles. And she comes out with this shite. What Planet is she living on. Help people. Don't Bury them altogether,What a mess.

What planet are these people living on. Don't they appreciate that it's the lunatic green policies and the cost of fossil fuels that is causing the problem. But according to some if we all freeze to death this winter it will be for a good cause, savings the planet.

Go back to bed girl because you haven't a clue what it takes to live in rural Ireland. You Live in your cosy city with all amenities outside your front door and then you have the temerity to dictate to the likes of me how we should be living.

We need more fossil fuels, not less. These arseholes will only be happy when we're living in pods & eating bugs. If you want to support people and communities, drop the carbon tax on fuel.

Harmful Lithium.....

People can't afford to heat their homes and they'll tax us off the roads. As for public transport, even if it were free I'd think twice before using it. How about build the alternative energy utilities, stop crucifying people, and then focus on this carbon angle, if you must.

When we need fuel the most, out comes some wretched doomsday cult to tell us we should do without. Make no mistake, we are the carbon they want to reduce.

Going into winter those fossil fuels are essential. Perhaps it may be time to address unrealistic climate goals?

In other words switch off their gas and electricity and pretend you care in the name of saving the planet.
