A Flex Alert was issued by the manager of the state’s power grid for the fourth consecutive day as the Southern California region continued to feel grueling, record-setting heat.
The possibility for additional Flex Alerts will continue through the holiday weekend as the California Independent System Operator, the nonprofit organization which oversees the state’s power grid, seeks to balance the state’s demand for electricity with its supply. “I’m quick to give credit where it’s due and residents have really stepped up to help conserve energy,” SCE spokesman David Song said.
“A few days of successful conserving is good sign but how long residents will continue to help out is difficult to gauge,” he said. “Its hard to tell people to shut off their AC when they’re baking in their homes at 11 p.m.”
Thank goodness for that big stretch of water!
