The companies did not detail the quantities found but a source told Reuters that Total's discovery was more than 1 billion barrels of oil equivalent. “The companies are cautious, but have talked about commercial quantities in billions of barrels,” Namibia Mines and Energy Minister Tom Alweendo told Reuters on the sideline of an oil conference in Dakar, Senegal.

africaupdates Soon there will be an Islamic outpost in Namibia.

Why are all this discovered now in Zim Moz now Namibia also somewhere in SA too...

Thanks...it's time we bought fuel closer to home than far away

Only reason why Namibians won't reap all the benefits this has to offer, and become the next Dubai, is due to the companies who'll have the infrastructure and rights to those offshore deposits. The employment and fuel opportunities are great, won't change their poverty 👍

War is coming to that country

We need to be doing exploration along our coastline for oil and gas. I hope those poesies who are boycotting this dont drive cars or use any of the millions of products made from fossil fuels.

...while SA bans them amid a sea of unemployment and poverty!

Why must it be Shell who extracts the gas and not the South African government itself for it's own people and to improve the lives of ordinary citizens with the profits?

Good for people of Namibia more jobs opportunities are coming for them

SA!!!
