Ariel has revealed new details of its extreme new Hipercar, which is confirmed for ‘low volume production.’
Extensive use of carbon and aluminium is designed to keep weight down – almost a necessity given Ariel’s history with the Atom and Nomad – meaning the Hipercar can weigh as little as 1400kg for the two-wheel drive version. Ariel says there will be rear- and all-wheel drive versions available, meaning the two-wheel drive version has 590bhp at its disposal, while the all-wheel drive one has a blistering 1180bhp to play with. For the all-wheel drive car, that means a 0-60mph time of 2.09 seconds, and a 0-100mph time of 4.4 seconds. Ariel also says that with improvements in torque vectoring, those sprint times can be reduced further.
Looks fab. Except for the wheel arch winglets that don’t look pedestrian friendly
the craziest car design i have ever seen
'Atomic batteries to power? Turbines to speed?' 'Er, no, actually..'
