tell the pubs to charge €3 a pint not €7 and they'll be full

The vintners have some neck they where only open awet day after covid restrictions when they put up the price during the fleadh in mullingar it went up one to two euro

Same people that threw unvaxxed under the bus. Excluded them without requesting a shread of evidence to support it. Went along with the now comical charade of masking people that were walking around but not those that were drinking. Now looking for support - absolute shower

They can go to hell - they've ripped us off for years, with many Dublin pubs charging almost €7 for the same pint of larger that costs less than €5 in rural Ireland. Pubs must cut their prices, no tax cuts for the greedy booze industry, tax cuts for the individual tax payer !

Legal drug dealers want more money

Pub licences are over valued , ye bought lame ducks !

Your headline should be 'After having had to deal with coronavirus pubs are now seriously screwing punters for every cent to make up for lost time and still aren't happy'

Give over most pubs are full and at €6 a pint there is no need for tax breaks

6.50 a pint they be fine.

€7 a pint....good luck

Let the glorified drug dealers go and fukk off

The hospitality sector was well supported here during the pandemic. Remember the publican in Cork joking he'd never been better off. Pubs and bars need to offer a quality product. People are not easily separated from whatever small amount of money they have and they want value

They could have prices and I'd not give them a penny, they fully supported the vaxx pass segregation. Reap what you sow fellas

Or.. they could just reduce their prices by 15%.. 🙄

Minimum Alcohol Pricing hasn't driven people back into pubs and cutting prices won't either. Until they become serious about ventilation many older people won't go back at all.

We already brought in minimum pricing for off licence alcohol so as to help the vintners. How much more help do they need?

They took the soup How's your lockdown money now

too many pubs anyway, away with them

I wonder if cutting rates or license fees would be better. Something to make them more viable while also trying to lower alcohol consumption

There is no excise on minerals but vitners still charging €3+ for a 180ml bottle of Coke! Pubs need to show value for money too.

If the government do that, there will be uproar on a level bigger than Troy.

If they can’t survive on their own at this point they should go out of business. Owning a bar is not a charity. We have more important areas which we should be looking after, such as our homeless.

The taxpayer is not here to prop up VFIpubs Every business is struggling so why should they be entitled to preferential treatment? Business is about survival not being subsidised by the taxpayer. They received billions during the pandemic. Time to figure it out on your own lads.

Just back from Spain, 2.10 for bottle of San Miguel in a pub. 2 euro for a good bottle of red wine in the supermarket. We are being ripped off here big time. Publicans here will not slash the price, its never going to happen, they'll just pocket the reduction.

F’ em took the piss out of people for long enough

And non alcoholic beverages are a ridiculous price ! People are crossing the boarder for booze !

We have the highest alcohol excise in the EU. It needs to be slashed by 50%

No great loss if they don't 'survive the winter'

They're killing their own cash cow with their greed. They won't survive the winter? You mean the gullible tourists won't be around to be milked for all they're worth and people struggling to pay bills don't fancy being ripped off.

There should be a tax reduction on beer/cider/spirits if they are from small independent Irish-owned producers. To help them compete with the large multi-national drinks companies and to help support local employment.

They are always trying to fear us into submission for another bailout

This the poor Vintners that charge 5 quid for a 330ml bottle of beer? Pardon me for not feeling sorry for them.

But, but, but... don't they love the minimum alcohol pricing for retailers Can't have it both ways.

There is always money for drink

They don’t want pubs to survive VFIpubs ye were well subsidised financially for 2yrs lockdowns but that was to close ye, not keep ye open long-term. Cost of drink now better off to close pubs. People are drinking in-house party’s and substance use now taken over from alcohol.

And of course the vinters will pass it on to the customers

No.

Dont bow down to the greedy publicans

Like they did for the hotels? How's that going?
