'People in this province and citizens in the western world need to face the facts whether they like it or not. Oil, gas and coal will be in great demand for decades to come,' writes Mount Pearl's P.J. Martin.

P.J. Martin of Mount Pearl says people need to stop fighting against climate change and instead learn to live with it.Several years ago, after the Paris Climate Accord was signed, I wrote a letter to the Telegram outlining a number of predictions I made on how this agreement would play out. Unfortunately, all of my predictions came true.

This winter could be a disaster in Europe. The shortage of gas supplies has driven prices so high that many people will not be able to heat their homes. Some countries like Germany have already started rationing energy. The colder months will only bring more misery for the average citizen and could lead to social unrest.
