Boris Johnson told energy firms that any ‘significant fiscal decisions’ to address soaring bills would be a matter for the next prime minister

The prime minister doubled down on his stance that it is a matter for his successor to address the issue.

When told that the boss of one British energy giant earns almost £11.5 million, Mr Spencer said: "That seems like a very large figure to me, and certainly on my salary and to my constituents that feels like a large figure. Executives are being asked to submit a breakdown of expected profits and payouts, as well as investment plans for the next three years.

Speaking in Belfast on Wednesday, he added: "What I want to do tomorrow is understand better how they're committed to that investment in gas, because whatever happens we need energy security and we've got a strong strategy that Kwasi and I will continue to push hard. Tory leadership candidate Mr Sunak told the BBC that it would be his "moral responsibility" to offer more help with bills if he were selected as prime minister, in particular to pensioners and those on benefits.

Mr Brown meanwhile told the Guardian that the Government should "pause any further increase in the cap" on bills, and negotiate lower rates with each individual company after examining their balance sheets."Time and tide wait for no-one. Neither do crises. They don't take holidays, and don't politely hang fire - certainly not to suit the convenience of a departing PM and the whims of two potential successors," the former Labour prime minister said.

Or in other words. Can’t be arsed

He’s taking the piss, right to the end.

Can't we just imprison the tw

Why would they help with bills when they receive more revenue from energy price increases? There's no incentive to act at all to stop this insane madness.

Get the Tories out Get the Tories out Get the Tories out Get the Tories out Get the Tories out Get the Tories out Get the Tories out Get the Tories out Get the Tories out Get the Tories out Get the Tories out Get the Tories out Get the Tories out Get the Tories out

The country needs to know that energy costs are calculated using the most expensive cost on the day (ie gas) and not the average of all the sources and this is sanctioned by the government We are being ripped off continually.

Still picking up his salary though 🤬

Yet a Honours list is ok?

He’s got all the big calls right, has big dog 🐶. Woof woof Brave Sir Boris Champion of the poor and infirm.

Of course it will. Why would anyone expect Johnson to achieve anything?

Utterly useless T.W.A.T. BorisJohnson

…..… at least calls right!

There’s a saucepan for you!

So much for the caretaker, for what good he as done he should have just gone, nobody would know the difference

Can successfully kicked down the road, just like Brexit, climate change, the NHS, covid impact and just about everything Boris has ever promised to do but never did get round to!!

Such an inspiration. If you ever lessons in delegation I suppose

So fill your boots. That’s told them.

He went to make sure he gets a nice fat directorship.

Well the opposition made him promise not do any major policy implementation!

Why the feck is the country paying him? Lazy, uncaring barsta*d.

In other words he doesn’t give a fuck as usual

Useless PM.

Why are we paying his wages this month?

Why is this wast of space still pulling down a PM’s salary?

This is a time sensitive issue, and again illustrates how little those in government are willing to understand the needs of the public. We will rid ourselves of these parasites at the first opportune moment. Killing the host is never sensible when you rely on it for sustainance.

The Liar admits he hasn’t a clue how to fix the crisis of his own making.

this just sounds like you Boris run away from all the problems

BorisJohnson idle, indolent, pointless wastrel. It is your duty as PM to look after the population. Set up a cross party working group. Listen to experts like MartinSLewis and GordonBrown . Not a time for ego. Or just go

If that was it that’s just a telephone conversation

He has better things to do....

Was he in his Pyjamas and pepa pig slippers. When he managed to get enough strength up to announce this. Wow - just like Churchill!

And we are surprised because? We would be better off having a brush with a horrendous wig as pm for all the use bojo is...

Boris Johnson should meet with Nadhim Zahawi, Liz Truss and Rishi Sunak now to agree on and action the financial response to the cost-of-living crisis. They are the party in power. The leadership contest and party rivalries needs to come second to their duty as public servants.

In what way is he caretaking? He's partying hard on our expense, whilst the country is burned to the ground. He should have been removed in handcuffs.

Boris to the British people:

What is the point of him
