A majority of electric vehicles may not be eligible for tax credits under a Senate proposal due to parts requirements, a group of major automakers said.

An analysis by the Congressional Budget Office on Wednesday suggested just 11,000 new EVs would use the credit in 2023.

Walmart and Electrify America announced more than 120 charging stations have been added to stores in 34 states. The bill includes rising requirements for the percentage of battery components originating from North America based on value. After 2023, it would disallow batteries with any Chinese components.

The group would rather see a more gradual phase-in of the battery component, critical mineral and final assembly requirements.

When the market gets flooded with battery cars manufactured with financial support by this administration, who on earth is going to buy them? Mainstream America doesn't want them---cannot afford them anyway. what a travesty---

Then stop building them.

PARISDENNARD Automakers are going down a rabbit hole. EVs will NOT be the future of transportation. And they're not as Green as people think. Plus they cost an arm and a leg and the 'range' mileage is ridiculous in most cases and they can take hours to fully recharge. And charging stations?🫤

PARISDENNARD And a $90,000 Ford Lightning can't tow for crap.

Another houdini money that did not reach the hands of those who really need it.

I believe this to be accurate. I purchased an EV in 2020. No tax credit.

EV models don't have difference & this may be maintained, selection of auto parts may increase. Statistically it's a $180+ Million bill per day. nytimes AFP CNN

Its for the high end models that only elitists qualify for. Thanks Joe. LGB.

Looks like auto makers just need to source more from the U.S and not from China. I don’t see the problem with that.

With a house and senate controlled by democrats. Boy, they can’t get anything right, can they? Let’s see then blame the evil republicans

About 75% of people can't afford one. Tax break for the wealthy.

Wow. Seems crazy.

And changing to EV's are supposed to help? Only helping the insanity of thought that climate change is any more than typical aging. All of us are aging and dying. Propaganda for all to leave much sooner.

Only the ones from China are approved but TESLA missed out as well

Shocker
