The shadow climate change and energy minister has warned of a potential “dirty deal” between Labor and the Greens over a ban on coal and gas.

The Albanese Government’s signature climate change bill, which will legislate its 2030 and 2050 emissions reduction targets, is now the subject of intense negotiations with the crossbench.

Shadow energy and climate change minister Ted O'Brien has warned Labor and the Greens could do a"dirty deal" to ban coal and gas. Picture: NCA NewsWire / Gary Ramage Picture: NCA NewsWire / Gary Ramage“This tells the Australian people all they need to know about this Prime Minister’s priorities.” Labor announced its intention last week to reform the EPBC Act following on from a review which called for climate to be a consideration for approval of new developments and projects.

“The risk is that this legislation will be used as ‘climate trigger’ under the EPBC Act to stop new Australian resources and infrastructure projects from proceeding.” The member for Fairfax in Queensland, who recently benefitted from a significant promotion into Peter Dutton's shadow cabinet, also cautioned that Labor could embed emissions targets into legislation governing key bodies such as Infrastructure Australia.

Do SkyNews ever get REAL Ministers on

Golly. What would we do without Sty giving us the proclamations of all these powerless, irrelevant has-beens from the LNP ... ?

Yes, they are reducing fossil fuel revenue which will give them less and less money and power to invade our lives. Wait? What. Hang on.

It’s all part of the plan.

Who?

They want to keep us poor, they do not care about the working class.

It's a given that Labor will cut a dirty deal just like last time and the time before that

As opposed to his position of oblivion

I dare them to ban coal and gas. We’d be economically and energy crippled inside a year.

If they do a deal to ban coal, wouldn't that be a clean deal?

Any deal with the Greens should be scrutinized fully. They can not be trusted, The Greens want go scrap Melbourne's Free Tram Zone (FTZ). Vote Greens last in November

Hhhmm LNP know all about dirty deals… and corruption, rorting, nepotism and economic devastation.

Absolutely no doubt about it

🤣🤣🤣 ‘dirty deals’ The LNP Hypocrisy of it 🤦🏻‍♂️
