Australia can be a global powerhouse for green hydrogen supply if it plays its cards right, says Patrick Lammers, COO at the major European energy utility.

Australia has the potential to be “the new Saudi Arabia” of green energy and minerals, says Patrick Lammers, chief operating officer of E.ON, the huge European utility that hopes to start importing green hydrogen from Fortescue Future Industries as early as 2025.

“So, that is very encouraging. In any way a contract, a supply deal, is all good and we also have to look at what partners we take in for shipping eventually and that sort of stuff. But I think more mutual understanding and confidence and trust in each other is more important than a contract at the moment.”

“Then again, if at all anyone can surprise me it probably would be FFI, so maybe we get straight away to green hydrogen liquid.”, from Victoria to Japan, but the complex technology required has yet to be scaled up.Europe, and particularly Germany, is facing a crisis in energy supply, exacerbated by the war in Ukraine, as Russia reduces flows of pipeline gas to the region.

The is no power house with Hydrogen the raw material is with country in the globe. Everyone just needs to do their part and make the transition in the next two decades. Middle East has a lot more sun and wind it’s just they they have not tapped the hydrogen that potential yet.
