A senior Labor minister has issued the Greens an ultimatum ahead of a Parliamentary showdown over the Albanese Government’s climate change bill.

Greens leader Adam Bandt has refused to budge over proposed changes to the Labor’s climate change bill raising concerns that the 2030 target would be a ceiling for carbon pollution reduction.

Offer ends 31 October, 2022 Ms Plibersek said Labor had made a clear promise during the May election to deliver on the 43 per cent 2030 emissions reduction target. “And it will be really up to the Greens and the crossbench in particular to recognise that that’s our promise, we want to deliver on our promise.”

Is Tanya Plibersek criticising Julia Gillard’s deal with the Greens in 2010 as “inaction”? Many of the impacts of that deal remain today.

One has to ask, if the Govt is willing to proceed without legislation, why are they so adamant to have a fight with the Greens over that legislation. It's BS to say that the emissions bill provides comfort to business. Industry is going ahead without Govt.
