According to him, the renewable energies are positioned as a source in full development, which are linked to the current concern of preserving the environment and free of any pollution and waste.
Mr. Barroso, who was present at the day dedicated to the oil sector at FILDA 2022, said that Sonangol had been working in Huila, Cabinda, Namibe and Kwanza Sul on projects to produce renewable energy since the beginning of this year. For Angola to meet the set target of producing renewable energy, the secretary of state said, it was essential to explore other sources of energy, with renewable energy being the future.
The process is underway, with projects already underway in Namibe province, in partnership with Eni, and in Huila, with oil company Total. Besides these initiatives a research centre for hydrogen production is planned in Kwanza Sul province. Sonangol is partnering with Eni, in Caraculo, in Namibe province, which is a renewable energy project, a photovoltaic plant for around 25 megawatts, in a first phase, and a further 25 megawatts in the second phase.
