HANOI : Vietnam's national assembly approved on Wednesday a plan to cut environment tax on fuel by half for the second time in three months as soaring energy prices put pressure on inflation, state television reported.
Vietnam is aiming to keep inflation below 4 per cent for 2022. Its consumer prices in June rose 3.37 per cent from a year earlier, led by higher food and energy costs, while transportation costs climbed 21.4 per cent from a year earlier. Tax on jet fuel will be reduced by 500 dong to the floor price of 1,000 per litre while tax on kerosene would be kept at 300 dong per litre.
