An energy expert says firing anyone at Eskom right now will not solve the problems at the ailing power utility.

The weakening rand spells more bad news for South Africans and Eskom, with another fuel price hike on the cards from Wednesday. Mike Rossouw, an energy expert, joins us now from Bangkok, Thailand, and Alan Mukoki, CEO of the SA Chamber of Commerce and Industry discussed the situation with eNCA's Dan Moyane. Courtesy ofJOHANNESBURG - Energy expert Mike Rossouw says firing anyone at Eskom right now will not solve the problems at the ailing power utility.

"I can tell you right now that if they get rid of De Ruyter and his COO they will not get anyone to replace them. Those are competent managers; the problem is that they lack experience in the utility. Half the leadership have left," Rossouw said. "Firing anyone at Eskom now solves nothing. The biggest problem in leadership lies with the president and his executives. They have failed the country. The economy is not on its knees. We will not see investments in South Africa until these issues are addressed, from the president down."

No it will ! Don't need to be an analyst to know that poor performance can't be tolerated nor will it be remunerated. FIRE them! Let them survive on that easy money they been eating.

What did firing the previous executives solve? pls ENCA stop defending useless people,Gordhan,De Ruyter and the whole board must votsek!!!!!

Under previous CEOs ,rotational load shedding was from 9am- 9pm for 4 hours and under de Ruyter it’s around the clock for 6 hours 🤭🫢🤭

Remember when Eskom handed out energy saving globes to encourage saving power so how about Eskom now handing out rechargeable globes even 2 per household for stuffing up. Its the right thing to do. Eskom_SA

Analyst aren't engineers

We understand that the guys at eskom and you are reporting to the same boss, including the president and the minister... It makes sense why you will tweet such...

So they must be paid for nothing. How about we just fill the board room with a bunch of brooms and mops. It's a lot cheaper and they at least have a reputation of cleaning.

Who need to be fired🤷‍♂️

Fire the workers for initimidation and culpable homicide. End of story

'Rossouw says CEO Andre de Ruyter is a competent leader and firing him will not bear any fruit. He says the biggest problem in the country’s leadership is President Cyril Ramaphosa and his executives who are failing the country dismally'.

I dis Not accurate....we have a CyrilRamaphosa problem

Because it's the white man at the helm

Just bcos are mostly white, I believe it will help by mitigating the worst damage to happen, then independent Audit must be conducted and also freeze their pension…That’s the best solution

It will solve a lot of problems cause the people that are there don't know what they doing. Fire them all including Jamnandas

Eskom is a 30 years mess. Can’t be fixed in days. Hands off the incumbent board and CEO

They are failing to do the job so they must be fired. We wont allow analysts to derail us.

He s the problem need to be fired

Let them vacate for those who can do a better job,are they so special to be allowed to fail while the nation remain in the dark?

EndTheMonopoly With 10 million I can build a solar farm that can out perform eskom with cheaper rates.

let them find a solution and stop talking...SA is dying and nobody seems to care about the crisis...all they do is talk

Pravin and phalaphala are the problem.
