Inflation in Ireland is estimated by Eurostat to have hit an annual rate of 9.6% in June. That’s higher than the peak which had been predicted by most forecasters at around 8.5%, writes RobertShortt

Inflation in Ireland is estimated by Eurostat to have hit an annual rate of 9.6% in June. That’s getting pretty close to 10%.And it means we’ve taken another year backwards in the comparison game - to 1983, the last time inflation tipped towards 10%.

Energy prices across the euro area rose at an annual rate of 41.9% in June, close to the 44.3% annual rate in March in the immediate aftermath of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. If there's a gas supply crunch this winter, we may not be able to rely on that gas imported via the UK.

RobertShortt Lanesboro produced 135 megawatts of power and Lough Ree Power produced 100 megawatts; together, they could power about 245,000 homes. These peat power stations were closed to save the planet. Now we import more power from the UK at a higher premium. A government choice

RobertShortt Lockdowns, mandates and massive government spending have consequences. Hyper inflation is next, then a recession. All of this for a virus with a 99+% survival rate.

RobertShortt We are all being CONTROLLED. Most people don't agree. But most people *work for money* whilst most people don't understand *how money works*, or know that the *money is controlled*. Although; we're not being controlled BY the money ... ... we're controlled through OUR APATHY?

RobertShortt Inflation is higher than reported.

RobertShortt Just a few more bases points and in typical Irish inferiority complex fashion we will be able to celebrate having a higher inflation rate than the 'brits'.

RobertShortt Shambolic! Making Irish poorer and crushing working people! This is not Putins fault, this is The ecb responsibility and the centralbank_ie support for them…

RobertShortt How's that hitting the TDS on 100k the civil servant's on 100k. My tax pays them and the country's a shit hole
