President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. has put the issue of climate change mitigation at the forefront of his administration’s priorities.
As part of efforts to curtail the effects of climate change, the Philippines joined nearly 200 countries in a landmark deal in Paris in December 2015 to cut greenhouse gas emissions to limit the rise in global temperatures to below two degrees Celsius. “We do have our part to play, we are the third biggest plastics polluter in the world but we won’t shirk from that responsibility. We will clean up,” he said.“We have yet to see large-scale practical solutions to pollution, though some are beginning to emerge. But, there are tried and proven new ways of mitigation,” he said.
