Amid surging inflation, people in Ireland are struggling to make ends meet. Rising energy costs and food prices mean that many face a cost-of-living crisis

Last week, sixth-year students at Gaelcholáiste Reachrann in Donaghmede, Co Dublin, graduated from secondary school.

The rising prices are squeezing millions of people all over the world. Those in the teaching profession are among those struggling to make ends meet. Mr Ó Caomhánach, 34, lives in Drogheda, Co Louth, and commutes to his school in Donaghmede each morning. Mr Ó Caomhánach teaches in the Gaeltacht to earn extra money. This year, he will correct State exams for the first time in years.

"I have a good wage, but I’m struggling and I'm watching the pennies. I can't help wonder how other people are coping that aren't in the position I am."Maeve Kiely, from Glengoole, a small village in rural Tipperary, told Prime Time that she has no option other than driving to work as a pharmacy assistant in Cashel, which is 20km from her home."Generally, I used to get €25 of diesel and it would keep me going for the week.

Ms McDonnell is a part-time carer for her partially sighted husband, Gary, who has also had an organ transplant. With the help of some family members, she set up a Women's Shed in Swords to help women in the area overcome the difficulties of living through the pandemic.

Thanks to the government.

And MM has already given his blessing to increase it further. No doubt the energy and fuel companies are well advanced in their greed. Interest rates going up, fiscal council urging tax hikes. Struggling to make ends meet will be a challenge too far.

Thank fuck for lidil and Aldi 💯💯💯

RTE, stop talking absolute rubbish media about the cost of living, we had 50K in Dublin airport this weekend heading off on holidays or else to sports events. Wake up

The government are comfortable that’s all that matters they can sleep well at night 🤬

As far back as February!!! 👇

What happens when you lock down an economy for two years and disrupt the supply chains as a result, the answer, inflation! You can all thank your government for the needless policies that were enforced by them!

It is impossible for someone without any nepotism, certain qualifications or lengthy experience (that they can't get without said qualifications) to get a one bedroom apartment, car and feed themselves. Let that sink in. That's a failed state. Our grandfathers died for this state

While all Irish citizens struggling… Government going to rent a hotel for 2 years to host refugees from Ukraine 🤷‍♂️ I understand they need help but how are they different from any other refugees arriving into the country and our own homeless people here in Ireland?

Everyone making more money than ever eg. Shops, restaurants and petrol stations, apart from the unlucky people that are employed by them time for strikes to start

Sure what would anyone in government or all their cronies in rte care about that for

And no pay rises to try manage it
