Furey Smyth Group estimates it will take no more than seven years to achieve a return on its investment through energy savings from solar panels and ultra-efficient fridges

Furey Smyth Group, which operates a chain of Eurospar stores across five counties, has completed a €2 million investment to reduce the carbon emissions from its network of stores in Ireland.

The Kildare-based retail group said it had spent €400,000 installing solar panels at all feasible locations across its chain of eight stores, while it invested a further €1.4 million to overhaul more than 100 refrigeration units with new, ultra-energy efficient fridges.
