has announced a sponsorship agreement with the ABB Formula E world championship that will see it partner the series for the Monaco and London E-Prix taking place on 30th April and 30-31st July respectively.
Despite not having a team entry in the loss making single seater series, the agreement signals the brand’s intentions to develop a range of electric sports cars, once it has started production of itsthat is. At the end of 2021 TVR signed a deal with Ensorcia, a lithium mining and production company. TVR Chairman Les Edgars remains optimistic that the petrol-powered Griffith will hit the road some time in 2024, with an all-electric variant built in limited numbers due to come shortly after. These two cars will be followed by a pair of bespoke all-electric models that will leverage its relationships with its latest motorsport and technology partners.
With Formula E having experienced an exodus of manufacturer teams recently, TVR’s association will come as some relief for the series organisers. Although with TVR yet to build a car, or confirm it has access to a factory to build them in, we feel it has more pressing tasks in hand than getting involved in an electric race series with limited appeal.
