Christopher Bataille, who is also a researcher at the Institute for Sustainable Development and International Relations in Paris, said governments need to update building codes so that no new homes use fossil fuels for energy.

is vital to reach climate goals, but must occur alongside shifts to renewable energy and making deep emissions cuts.Article content

“We need to do it all. Everything we can,” he said. “We’re a generation late to the game really. But it’s better to do start really doing it now.” Governments will also need to use “carbon dioxide removal” technologies – ranging from planting trees that soak up carbon to grow, to costly and energy-intensive technologies to suck carbon dioxide directly from the air.Article contentIn the scenarios the IPCC assessed, limiting warming to around 1.5 C requires global greenhouse gas emissions to peak before 2025 at the latest, and be reduced by 43 per cent by 2030.

“Climate change is the result of more than a century of unsustainable energy and land use, lifestyles and patterns of consumption and production,” said Skea. “This report shows how taking action now can move us towards a fairer, more sustainable world.”

Trudeau has just approved an oil and gas project in Newfoundland! Maybe you should be commenting on that.

What about 7 billion people using fossil fuels for heating. 4 billion using coal. Fkn dreamers

Fake news again. This fire had nothing to do with Climate change

its hilarious that all these climate activists drive cars, own nat gas powered furnaces and dont realize 99% of everything they buy use and consume was nade with help from fossil fuels! anyone lubricate a factory machine with water lately?

Can we stop these idiot experts

You do realize that the picture you are using was set by humans and not climate change?

This is about the worst thing Canada could do. By decreasing or all together stopping fossil fuel extraction we will simply shift this to the nations that do not follow environmental or ethical policies. For the sake of the works as a whole Canada should increase production.

Enviro-loons are in full panic mode right now with the war in Ukraine demonstrating so clearly why reductions to our energy output have become a national security issue. They are throwing everything they’ve got out there as a distraction.

Time to switch to nuclear

Ya so now we pay a 5% pst adder for gas fired heating in our homes on equipment that’s as high as 98% efficient? To many stupid politicians making stupid policies!

Well it’s not going to happen…so next!

Maybe tell the bcliberals this - they're still pushing LNG like it's not a fossil fuel. They don't get it's dirtier than coal - because they don't count the gas loss into the environment during exploration and extraction.

But we won’t cuz ..money

It's not just about 'stopping fossil fuels' we need an alternative energy plan to make up for the loss of fossil fuel energy. If we are going to quit eating junk food, we need a plan for what nutritious foods you are going to switch to Clearly the world doesn't have a plan yet
