The paper by the United Nations’ Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change is expected to say thatwill be avoided only if vast quantities of carbon dioxide are removed from the air, the Times of London reported.
However, carbon-capturing technology is nowhere near where it needs to be. Today, 19 operational plants capture only 10,000 tons of carbon dioxide a year, compared to the 36 billion tons the world produces annually, according to the report. The paper is expected to call for carbon dioxide removal, but carbon-capturing technology isn’t quite at the level it needs to be.But the report, commissioned and endorsed by 195 governments, acknowledges that the only “negative emissions” strategy currently used on a mass scale is tree planting.
Critics, however, say focusing on negative emissions technology provides a license to “burn now, worry later.”
There is never an ONLY way. There are always alternatives, which shud be looked at.
I remember when acid rain was killing everything. Onto the next crisis
Only 4 years left !!!
Why don't we remove the U.N. instead?
