Bill Sides lives just off Carlsbad Boulevard. He's especially worried about tourists who rent the bikes in the summer. Carlsbad Police say there's been an influx of e-bikes since the pandemic. The department said from January of 2019 to December of 2021, there were 186 collisions involving e-bikes or bicycles, with163 involved injuries.
There are electric mopeds sold as ebikes. Juiced, and Ariel Rider are such brands. The Ariel Rider can be 'jailbroken' and be ridden with assist far past the legal ebike assist limit of 28 mph. Then you have all cars capable of race car speeds. Why is that legal? It's absurd
Car drivers are guilty of infractions at a incredibly high number to that of cyclists. Millions to one, daily in the USA. Get them That aside, kids have no business riding recklessly on ebikes. Kids aren't burdened with excessive responsibility, they should be on regular bikes
