The Department of Energy will create guidelines for the use of electric vehicles as the pending bill on the matter is set to be signed, Undersecretary Gerardo Erguiza Jr. said on Monday.

Interviewed on GMA News’ Unang Balita, Erguiza said the bill includes a framework that authorizes the DOE and the Department of Transportation to craft the guidelines.“Nakalagay na po diyan ang framework at binigyan ng authority ang DOE at gagawin nilang more particular ito, in coordination with the DOTr, at gagawin ang guidelines na ho rito,” he added.

According to him, a circular has been issued for the certification of those who would like to build charging stations for electric vehicles. Erguiza said hydrogen fuel is also being developed to be installed in electric vehicles so they would not need to be charged. “'Yung electric vehicle natin, merong china-charge, merong hindi na, merong hybrid. 'Yung mga hybrid tumatakbo on their own, meron nang sariling mechanism sa sasakyan,” he said.
