Fortescue Metals Group founder Andrew Forrest has bough a $3 billion wind, solar and battery project in Queensland via his private investment company, Squadron Energy.

Australia’s richest man Andrew “Twiggy” Forrest has made a $3 billion renewables investment to buy the Clarke Creek green energy hub, near Rockhampton.

, said the Clarke Creek hub, which was just about to start construction, would be the largest of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere. They had all the relevant government approvals for a wind farm of up to 800 megawatts, a 200 megawatt to 400 megawatt solar farm as well as a big battery. “Now it’s full speed ahead. It is the largest electrolyser facility under construction in the world but we simply can’t keep up with demand,” he said.
