And energy regulator Ofgem also expressed concern that Eon issued the bills before questioning the circumstances.Eon has now apologised for the issue - and say they have lowered her monthly direct debit.An Eon spokesperson said: "We've spoken to Brenda to apologise for the concern caused by the increase in her direct debit.'We've now updated Brenda's account, refunded the overpayment and lowered her monthly direct debit.

We refused direct debits for this reason. Our supplier tried to pull a fast one. We said 'no' and without our money, they had to play ball. We was right and paid less than half.
