Storms have devastated more crops in South Australia's mid north, prompting a farmer to publicly declare he was cutting social ties with any climate change deniers.

An SA farmer is fed up with climate change denial after his property incurred significant crop damageBut he said its extreme events are amplified by climate change

"This is the anxiety farmers now have to live with every day as these intense storms become more routine.""We have to accept that many things are out of our control … but today has been the hardest day of farming in my short career," he said. The hail not only snapped wheat plants but also knocked their valuable grain onto the ground.

Climate researchers say CSIRO modelling indicates hail storms, like that which struck farms in Caltowie, and droughts will become more intense in the future.

Yep, it must be climate change then..

Well, I hope he’s also trying to convince rural voters not to vote Nationals.

BOM has reports of mega hailstorms in South Australia all the way back to the 1840s. They are common weather events that vary in intensity. The farmers quoted in the article are brainwashed, like most of the population.

Utter rubbish. BOM has historical reports of mega hailstorms in SA as far back as the 1840s. Crops destroyed, fruit trees stripped, greenhouses smashed. Nothing to do with the amount of CO2 in the air!

AndorraGrasping The Twitter article headline ''We can no longer be friends', farmer warns climate change deniers, after storm devastates crop' is not found in the article at all. Did the story change? I'd like to think some farmers ARE standing up to their friends and influencing for good.

You people just dont stop. It's a cult movement

Storm destroys crop and it’s due to climate change🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️ It’s called weather ya morons and weather can be unpredictable

Sadly, I have seen things like this happen many times over my 60+ years. The highs & lows of being a farmer in Australia….. loosing crops & stock is not a recent thing!

Can relate.

It’s El Nino. It’s been around for thousands of years. Don’t listen to the alarmists. They will have us all scared of everything. That’s the current pandemic.

So he has never had a storm destroy a crop before? Been farming long

👍😢😢😢

GrogsGamut So why do ppl in the bush keep voting for the Nats? 🤔

GrogsGamut Says a farmer who votes time and time again for the LNP.

KellieTranter Especially if the rainfall were down to chemtails..

KellieTranter But keep voting for the Nationals 🤯

It amazes me how some farmers vote for the National party who are climate change deniers.

Has he spoken to farmer and science-phobe Barnaby Joyce?

People are complaining about the price of food. We haven't seen anything yet as the climate crisis continues wreaking havoc. Not one world leader is taking it seriously including Biden who will only commit to half measures.

The right wing federal government has to GO

It doesn't matter if you don't believe in ClimateCrisis it well still affect you.

auspol COP26 Those critiquing MPs as sleepwalking towards a climate change disaster let them get away with far too much. Their's are not acts in naive ignorance but culpable negligence. They are making their decisions in full knowledge with a clear view.

The_Nationals own words and actions especially in supporting adani is evidence they are no longer supporting and friends with regional areas of Australia. auspol

Sooo you mean..it rained Dont they whinge when it doesnt rain

the farmers were saying the same thing back in 1889 and 1903 when the whole place went underwater and destroyed all the crops.

Climate change denialists and anti vaxx cultists are creating wedges in families and friendships , it’s alarming to see the damage this polarisation is doing to human interactions

ABC News That's just freaking embarrassing...

There's no way I'd be friends with any deniers of science.

Let’s go Brandon

Maybe farmers should stop voting LNP/Nationals if they want action on climate change.

Because storms have never, ever ruined crops before have they? Seriously where do they find these fruit loops 🤦🏻‍♂️

Natural climate phenomenons like a Negative Indian Ocean Dipole on the West Coast at present and a La Niña forming on the East both bring moisture and storms. The devastating Black Summer bushfires in 2019–20 were linked to an extreme positive IOD.

Typical whingeing farmer, its too wet, its too dry, storms are too severe. I hope he is revegatating his property or does that not suit his narrative

So why do farmers keep voting National or coalition?

Here come all the ABC Karen's

The Nationals need to reinvent themselves or they will be obsolete. They always say that they have rural Australia’s interest at heart and yet sell out at every turn.

And above is a good list of people to unfriend.

The ABC travels to all corners of the country to find someone to suit their agenda.

Correct! Bugger the cavemen!

Dear Farmers, stop voting for the National and Liberal parties, then something other than talk might be done about climate change!

ABC forensically seeks out any random that supports their Marxist climate apocalypse vision of the world.

The National Party has abandoned those on the land for those owning Coal & Gas and the Nationals are dragging the Liberals with them. It's Time to get rid of both Barnaby & the Nationals & Scott Morrison & the Liberals.

Hopefully the farmers in the New England stop voting barndoor back in...

. Never had a storm before? .

So I wonder if it was climate change in 1824 when a hailstorm near Sydney killed pigs and chickens?🤔 12 inch circumference hail - softball size! 😳

Imagine paying $1.5B PA for this rubbish

Then farmers and other rural people need to stop voting for the National Party. Littleproud on the radio sounding like ScottyMustGo with a lot of BS on what a great job Oz is doing on climate change.

Northern hemisphere are the biggest polluting countries on the planet ! China US EU India Russia, yet no one points the finger and makes them accountable!

Perhaps he should be mad at the people polluting the planet instead.

A piece of advice from our Deputy PM

That's why he's a farmer not a scientist, not too smart. Global warming is part of a naturally recurring inter glacial cycly going on for 800,000+ years Inc CO2 increases long before fossil fuels and this can be proven by CSIRO research

MarieColemanAO this, genuinely, is what I have never understood about Joyce types and the LNP in general: why do they keep getting elected in rural seats? I mean, come on!

Reality bights.

But farmers still vote National Party...
