Prime Minister Scott Morrison has landed in Rome ahead of two major international summits and has pushed Australia’s emissions reduction plan as the global solution to climate change.

Mr Morrison will attend the G20 Summit in Rome on Saturday and Sunday before flying to Glasgow for the much-anticipated UN Climate Change Conference.

“Frankly when you talk about hitting net zero emissions it’s the same sort of challenge when the world’s looking for a vaccine, a vaccine to end a pandemic,” he told reporters at the Fiumicino International Airport in Rome. “If we’re to address climate change globally, which is the challenge, no single country acting on its own can impact on that overall outcome, particularly Australia.”

Mr Morrison said technology solutions could assist countries such as China which is the major contributor to global greenhouse gas emissions.
