The 15,000 square kilometre renewable energy hub planned for the south coast of Western Australia could produce up to 50 gigawatts of power.

An international consortium plans to build the world's biggest renewable energy hub along the south coast of Western Australia.A proposal to build the world's largest renewable energy hub would boost to Australia's energy productionThe hub would be established with a partnership with local traditional owners

If it was created, the hub would produce 3.5 million tons of zero carbon green hydrogen, or 20 million tons of green ammonia each year, for both domestic consumption and export. The project would span across the Dundas Shire and the City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder in Western Australia.Shire of Esperance President Ian Mickel said he had not been notified of the proposal prior to Tuesday morning's announcement.

Are they looking at supplying East Coast power network as there is a time difference that aids night time peak loads? Or is it all going to hydrogen?

Here is a question, how come nobody is making all the industrial areas (warehouses) around Oz to be compulsory fitted with solar panels and the energy fed back into the grid? amount of new land being used = 0%

“The consortium said in a statement the proposal would be innovative, not only in the scale of green energy produced, but also in the model of partnership with the Mirning people, who are the traditional owners of the land.” NAIDOC2021

The stock photo that ABC used is the Nullarbor cliffs in South Australia, not the proposed area.

NOTE: they’re going to use the energy to produce 20 million tonnes of ammonia each year for export. They have already been rejected by Fed Govt once because of the catastrophic environmental risks that a bulk ammonia leak would cause.

Imagine we started these projects ten years ago. We should be now supplying Asia with all their energy needs from solar, wind, wave, etc… Is it greed or stupidity that drives LNP?

Have the indigenous Australians of the land been consulted?
