Prime Minister Scott Morrison is set to announce a further half a billion-dollar investment in clean energy ahead of the climate summit on Friday which will be hosted by US President Joe Biden.

5min

The move comes as the prime minister hopes to assert his government’s commitment to reducing emissions – ahead of the virtual talks with 40 world leaders later this week. The $565 million spend will build project-based international partnerships to help drive down emissions as well as generate up to 2500 jobs. The funding will be in addition to the recent $540 million dollar boost the government made into clean hydrogen and carbon capture technologies.

Let’s just wait and see if it is really clean energy being funded! I suspect the money will go to blue (not green) hydrogen and CCS technology that will only ever be a stop gap and a poor one at that!

I wonder how he’ll try to justify his disastrous plans for Australia’s gas industry when faced with the heavyweights in the debate? I hope they scare the pants off him! PS. Are those drag marks I see behind your heels Scomo? Always so little, so late.

The guy's desperate for 'brownie points' and probably thinks the Americans are all stupid like Trump. He's in for a shock.
