An independent report has found 'sufficient uncertainty' about the contamination risk and questioned the accuracy of a proposal to drill hundreds of coal seam gas wells near a controversial Linc Energy site in southern Queensland.

It said Arrow Energy's conclusions that the contamination concentrations were decreasing was based on limited data.

A spokesperson for Arrow Energy said historical observations indicated a low likelihood of contaminants leaving the former Linc Energy site regardless of CSG development. "The department has extensively engaged with the local community, including surrounding landholders, about the former Linc Energy site and resource activities in the area, and continues to do so," they said.

"It [the report] is enough to say there are a number of issues which still need to be resolved," he said.
