The electricity used to recharge them comes from fossil fuels which have lots of emissions. The creation of their batteries is destroying the immediate environment in the countries where they are produced.
If they get as many power cuts in Cork as they do here, they'd be smart to have a few petrol and diesel vehicles on standby.
