Prime Minister Boris Johnson has pledged to accelerate the ban on the sale of new petrol and diesel cars in the UK to 2035 and extend it to include hybrid vehicles.

The policy, which will come into effect five years earlier than planned, coincided with the launch of plans for a key UN conference on

climate change. Motoring organisations criticised the plan and said the country is unprepared for electric alternatives by the deadline.

Hay you fossil fuel lovers Boris has the right idea he's well ahead of our coalition mob.

BorisJohnson must be drinking his own bath 🛀 water seriously, hasn’t he talked to the experts about renewables? I have included a link so he can get some education!

Every single announcement like this means only one thing. HIGH EMISSIONS COUNTRIES LIKE AUSTRALIA WILL BE TAXED IN THE FUTRUE. Unless we pull our fingers out NOW. auspol

Shows how powerful the climate cult really is. Even Boris has been affected.

Can't believe he is wasting his time on this nonsense, should be concentrating on the economy post brexit and trade deals

Boris's payback for the disloyalty of the Scots - The coldest winters in the UK are in Scotland. Nice!

Stupid.

If England alone was to reach the 2025 targets they would consume 1/2 of the global reserves of rare earth materials manufacturing turbines, panels and EV's. Also note, China and Africa control the current reserves. Mining will increase, rare earth & copper dug up replacing coal

SeanBradbery Even the RWNJs in UK get it.

We don't mine enough rare earth metals to replace fossil fuels with renewable energy. Rare earth metals are used in solar panels and wind turbines, as well as electric cars and consumer electronics. We don't recycle them, and there's not enough to meet growing demand
