Published: May. 23, 2024 at 6:08 PM AKDTFAIRBANKS, Alaska - A pair of federal energy officials made their way to the Golden Heart Thursday to tour the National Renewable Energy Lab’s grounds at the University of Alaska Fairbanks.
Their coverage included an ongoing effort to create manufacturable insulation that capitalizes on the state’s abundant beetle-killed spruce. NREL staff also stressed many of Alaska’s supply chain challenges for construction in remote communities and emphasized the need for more bespoke so-called “building envelopes” across the state.
