A cabinet sub-committee has released a new action plan aimed at streamlining the permitting process for major energy projects in Canada. The strategy seeks to provide businesses with a greater degree of certainty by proposing specific targets for conducting federal assessment processes. Moving forward, the government will look to evaluate and permit federally designated projects within five years for federally designated projects, while non-designated proposals will be assessed within two years, and nuclear projects will be completed in three years.
