Sand nourishment is being touted as a viable solution to address coastal erosion across Australian beaches.Councils want the state government to chip in more funding to help mitigate the risk of erosion.

Some critics say sand nourishment is not a foolproof solution because any sand can be washed away during a big storm. "Even though beach nourishment might be the preferred solution by the community, there simply isn't the resourcing available to fund that," she said.
