Construction work has commenced in Mali on the largest photovoltaic solar power plant in West Africa, in a joint venture with Russia. The 200MW plant, which will cover 314 hectares in Sanankoroba, near Bamako, is expected to boost national electricity production by 10%, according to Grigory Nazarov, director of Novawind, the subsidiary of the Russian atomic energy agency, Rosatom, in charge of construction.
