Beryl bikes arrived at CEG’s Globe Point development on Water Lane in Leeds this week, giving tenants, local residents and visitors the opportunity to commute in a more sustainable way.

Thought to be the UK’s first all-electric public bike hire scheme, Beryl and Leeds City Council launched the service in 2023, revolutionising commuting across the city with hundreds of e-bikes available for hire by the hour at more than 50 locations. Docking stations for 15 bikes are being provided at Globe Point, where they will be recharged using the building’s renewably sourced electricity.

Just a few minutes’ walk from Leeds City Station’s southern entrance, you can pop to work on the train and nip out to a meeting by bike,” explained Antonia Martin Wright, the director of commercial development at CEG, adding: “Alongside the fitness classes we organise, the e-bikes also provide another opportunity for the hundreds of people working in the building stay fit and healthy, as well as doing their bit for the environment.
