Sonic memories of Maserati's past exist as throaty, wailing V-8s, recently stifled by forced induction, and resonate straight-sixes if you look back far enough. But all that noise may be reduced to a whisper soon, as Maserati solidifies its plans to go all-electric by 2028. That doesn't mean that Maserati will sell hybrids and battery-electric vehicles by 2028, either. Rather, Maserati is committing to be an EV-only manufacturer by 2028.
Fellow Stellantis-owned Italian manufacturer, Alfa Romeo, says it will also go all-electric a full year earlier in 2027.Beyond production vehicles, Maserati is committed to electrification in its motorsports department, too. Known as Maserati MSG Racing, the team is in its second competitive year of Formula E, with driver Maximilian Günther snagging the top spot at the 2024 Tokyo E-Prix in March.
