Europe’s top human rights court has ruled that the Swiss government had violated the human rights of its citizens by failing to do enough to combat climate change, in a decision that will set a precedent for future climate lawsuits.

Swiss President Viola Amherd came out strongly after the verdict, questioning the grounds for the ruling.“Sustainability is very important to Switzerland, biodiversity is very important to Switzerland, the net zero target is very important to Switzerland,” she said.
